Continental developed the SportContact 6 as a Max-Performance Summer tire. The SportContact 6 was initially introduced as an Original Equipment tire for the elite Audi R8 V10 Plus. The tire delivers high-speed stability, responsive handling and ultimate traction in both wet and dry weather conditions. The SportContact 6 is similar to all Max-Performance Summer tire and should never be stored, serviced or driven on ice through snow or in temperatures close to, or below freezing. Continental used its Black Chilli Compound to design the SportContact 6 tread rubber. The compound utilizes a distinctive racing carbon black that delivers supreme grip with tire-to-road contact. The irregular tread design reveals a sturdy outboard shoulder having carefully spaced intermediary rib for straight-line solidity during handling. Continuous center rib offers constant on-road contact and responsive handling. Horizontal notches and deep circumferential grooves provide immediate water evacuation from beneath the footprint to prevent skidding. The internal structure of the SportContact 6 features matching steel belts supported by a two-ply rayon case. Continental utilizes its elite Aralon 350 hybrid lid ply to strengthen the steel belts and assists in maintaining the shape of the tire during high speed driving for better control and stability. Note: Any tire left unprotected in temperatures of 20°F (-7°C) or lower must be allowed to return slowly to a minimum 40°F (5° C) temperatures at least 24 hours before being flexed in any way, such as putting them on wheels, altering inflation pressures or them drive, roll or support a vehicle. Any flexing (during cold weather) of the particular rubber compounds utilized in developing Max Performance tires can lead to irreparable compound cracking. The warranty on the tires does not include compound cracking if it resulted from improper storage and use. Tires displaying compound cracking must be substituted.
