Continental designed the SportContact 6 as a high-performance summer tire, initially tailored for the elite Audi R8 V10 Plus as an Original Equipment fitment. This tire is engineered to deliver exceptional high-speed stability, precise handling, and outstanding traction on both wet and dry surfaces. Like all Max-Performance Summer tires, the SportContact 6 is unsuitable for use on ice, snow, or in temperatures near or below freezing, and it must be stored and handled carefully under such conditions.
The SportContact 6 features Continental’s proprietary Black Chilli Compound, which incorporates advanced racing carbon black to maximize grip and optimize tire-to-road contact. The asymmetric tread pattern includes a reinforced outboard shoulder with strategically spaced intermediate ribs to enhance straight-line stability and handling. A continuous center rib ensures consistent road contact and precise responsiveness, while lateral notches and deep circumferential grooves effectively evacuate water to minimize the risk of hydroplaning.
Internally, the SportContact 6 is built with twin steel belts supported by a two-ply rayon casing for added durability. Continental also integrates its Aralon 350 hybrid cap ply to reinforce the steel belts, maintaining tire shape and providing superior control and stability during high-speed driving.
Important Note: Tires exposed to temperatures below 20°F (-7°C) should be allowed to gradually warm to at least 40°F (5°C) over a 24-hour period before being flexed in any way, including mounting, adjusting air pressure, or supporting a vehicle. Flexing the specialized rubber compounds in extreme cold can cause irreversible cracking, which is not covered under the tire warranty. If cracking occurs due to improper storage or usage, the tires must be replaced.
