The ExtremeContact Sport 02 is Continental’s latest Max Performance Summer tire, designed for drivers of sports cars, performance coupes, sedans, and muscle cars who seek an ideal combination of traction, handling, comfort, and durability. As with all summer tires, the ExtremeContact Sport 02 is unsuitable for use, storage, or servicing in near-freezing or subzero conditions, as well as on snowy or icy surfaces.
Built with a specialized summer-only compound and a ribbed, asymmetric tread pattern, the ExtremeContact Sport 02 integrates Continental’s SportPlus Technology to deliver precise steering response, strong wet traction, and extended tread life. The outer shoulder’s wide tread blocks maximize cornering grip and high-speed handling, while the continuous center rib ensures consistent road contact for enhanced stability. The tire’s optimized footprint evenly distributes pressure, promoting improved wear resistance. To boost wet performance, Continental employs its proprietary +Silane tread compound, which enhances handling in damp conditions. Deep circumferential grooves also channel water away from the contact area, reducing the risk of hydroplaning.
Inside, the ExtremeContact Sport 02 features a two-ply polyester casing that supports two steel belts for structural integrity. A polyamide reinforcement layer further enhances high-speed stability and performance.
Important Note: If exposed to temperatures of 20°F (-7°C) or lower, these tires must be allowed to gradually warm to at least 40°F (5°C) for 24 hours before any flexing activities, such as inflation adjustments, mounting, or rolling, are performed.
Flexing the rubber compounds of Max Performance Summer tires in cold conditions may cause irreversible cracking. This type of damage is not covered under warranty, as it results from improper use or storage. Tires with cracked compounds will need replacement.
