Building on the legacy of the Proxes R888, the Toyo Proxes R888R is engineered specifically for racetrack enthusiasts and autocross drivers. Ideal for track days, competitive road racing, and advanced driver training, this tire is designed to push performance boundaries. However, like all Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, the Proxes R888R is not suited for near-freezing temperatures, snow, or icy conditions. To maintain its integrity, it should be stored indoors at temperatures above 15°F.
The Proxes R888R utilizes an advanced R-compound tread that heats up quickly, providing outstanding grip and enhanced cornering performance. The tread compound is combined with an aggressive, asymmetric tread design, featuring large outer shoulder blocks to maximize lateral grip on the track. Improved contact patch dynamics elevate dry traction, delivering superior braking, acceleration, and cornering compared to its predecessor.
While the Proxes R888R meets D.O.T. standards, it is not designed for optimal wet performance. Worn or shaved tires are especially prone to hydroplaning in standing water. Drivers are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution in such conditions.
Under the surface, the Proxes R888R features a robust internal structure. Depending on size, it employs a two- or three-ply Rayon casing, reinforced with two wide, high-tensile steel belts. An additional spirally-wound nylon cap enhances high-speed stability and durability for consistent performance.
For optimal performance, Toyo Tires recommends the following setup guidelines for the Proxes R888R:
- Operating Temperature: 160°-220°F
- Hot Inflation Pressure: 32 to 38 PSI
- Camber: -1° to -3°
- Caster: As much positive as possible
