Building upon the legacy of the Proxes R888, the Proxes R888R is Toyo's dedicated tire for racetrack and autocross enthusiasts engaging in track days, competitive road racing, or high-performance driver training events. As with all Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, the Proxes R888R is not designed for use in near-freezing temperatures, snowy conditions, or icy roads. Proper storage in indoor environments above 15°F is strongly recommended.
The Proxes R888R features an advanced R-compound tread that heats up quickly to deliver exceptional grip and maximum cornering performance. Its tread compound is paired with an aggressive, asymmetric tread design, incorporating large outer shoulder blocks to enhance lateral grip on the track. Continuous refinement of the contact patch results in improved dry traction, providing superior braking, acceleration, and cornering capabilities compared to its predecessor.
Although the Proxes R888R complies with D.O.T. standards, it is not suitable for wet conditions, particularly when shaved or worn, as standing water increases the risk of hydroplaning. Drivers should exercise caution and reduce speed when encountering such conditions.
Internally, the Proxes R888R is constructed with a two- or three-ply Rayon casing (depending on size) supported by two wide, high-tensile steel belts. A spirally-wound nylon reinforcement layer further enhances high-speed stability and durability.
Toyo Tires provides the following general setup recommendations for the Proxes R888R:
- Operating Temperature: 160°-220°F
- Hot Inflation Pressures: 32 to 38 PSI
- Camber: -1° to -3°
- Caster: As much positive as possible
